Day 1 - Seniors

I’ve taken my seat at Table Blue 449.  This is what my stack looks like right now.

We flew in yesterday - this year I am with my son Josh, who is not playing the Seniors Tournament (I am not that old!)

I am feeling a little cruddy today - I slept about ten hours last night and woke up with sweaty sheets and a bunch of gunk in my lungs.  A hot shower, a lot of hacking, a 24 hour Claritin, and I am mostly okay.

Six of us at Blue 449.  To my left is an old energetic dude in a WSOP hoodie and a vintage WPT t-shirt.  Younger looking dude in Seat 1 wearing a reddish-brown shirt.  In Seat 2 is an old dude wearing a blue golf windbreaker.  Seat 3 is an Asian guy in a black Clippers baseball hat.  Finally, Seat 4 is a nondescript guy in a gray WSOP zipper sweater, glasses, hat and headphones.

Cards flew at 10:10.  My first hand was AJo.  I was last to act with three callers.  Flop was QJ10.  Everyone checked and I bet 300 and took it down.

A few hands later, we have two limpers before my action on the button with A3o.  I raise to 300 and both limpers call.  Flop is 863.  I bet 600 and the old dude in the windbreaker re-raises to 1300.  I decline the invitation.

Seat 7 has arrived.  He is a chatty guy and he wins his first hand.  He then raises his second hand with an AA7 flop.  Checks flop and then bets the nothing turn to take it down from nondescript Seat 4.

On my big blind, Seat 2 raises me.  I think he’s super-aggressive, so I need to be careful with him.  He has one of those sing-songy lower class British accents and is talking knowledgeably about poker rooms in the UK.

Seat 9 has arrived.  Like Seat 1, he is one of those rangy dudes with a salt and pepper beard.  He and I got into a hand where I had A8h and raised in position.  Nothing on the flop and we checked.  He bet 400 on the nothing turn and I called, intending to make a move on the river, but he beat me to it and bet 1100.  I had to fold.

From early position, I get AA… and everyone folds to my raise.  I must have looked excited, dang it.

33 minutes in, and I’m already down 1500 out of my starting stack of 20,000.  Sigh…
